Cold , Cough, Throat hoarseness / Pain/ Soreness

 

Cold 

  1. 1.Take  juice of two lemons in ½ a liter (2½ cups) of boiling water sweetened with honey at bed time, It is a very effective remedy.

 

Take ginger (adrak) tea.

 

 

2. Cut ginger (adrak) and boil with a cup of water, sweeten with ½ teaspoon sugar and drink hot.

 

 

3.  A tablespoon of carom seeds (ajwain) crushed and tied up in a muslin cloth can be used for inhalation to relieve congestion/blocked nose.

 

Placed similar small bundle near the pillow of sleeping children to relieves congestion.

 

 

4. A teaspoon of cumin seeds (jeera) is added to 1 glass of boiling water.

 

5. Strain and simmer for a few minutes. Let it cool. Drink it 1-2 times a day. If sore throat is also present, add a few small pieces of dry ginger (adrak) to the boiling water.

 

 

6. Take some pepper corns (saboot kali mirch) finely grind and mixed with a glass of warm water, sweetened with 5-6 batasha (a variation of sugar candy) , drink it in  nights at bad time.

 

 7.  In the case of the acute cold in the head, boil 1 tablespoon full pepper powder in a cup of milk along with a pinch of turmeric (haldi) and have once daily till relief .

 

 

8. Take 8-10 tulsi leaves and wash well. To 1 cup of water, add these tulsi Take 1-2 cloves of garlic (lasan), ½" piece ginger, crushed and 4-5
pepper corns (saboot kali mirch)and boil it with water and keep simmering on fire till the quantity is reduced to ¼ cup. Cool and add 1 teaspoon honey.Drink this every morning.

Cough (Dry)

  1. 1. Take a glass of warm water with juice of 1 lime and 1-2 teaspoon of honey .

 

 

2.  Mix 8-10 tablespoon of coconut milk with 1 tablespoon poppy seedsMix 8-10 tablespoon of coconut milk with 1 tablespoon poppy seeds(khuskhus) and 1 tablespoon pure honey. Take every night at bed time.

 

 

3. Nearly 250 gms of sweet apples should be taken daily for a week to obtain relief.

Cough with Phlegm (balgam)

1.Mix equal amounts of onion juice & honey. Have 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day. 

 

2.Chew a clove (laung) with a pinch of salt to ease expectoration and relieveChew a clove (laung) with a pinch of salt.

Throat Hoarseness

1.Soak  approx 10 almonds overnight in 1 cup water. Grind it after discarding the outer  skin with 8 to 10 black pepper (saboot kali mirch) in 1 cup water and drink it once a day, after adding sugar candy (mishri).

 Throat Pain

  • 1. Swallow tiny amounts slowly 2-3 times a day to  Mixture of one teaspoon  lime juice and 1 tablespoon honey.

 

 

 

 

2.  Crush a few neem leaves with water. Remove pulp. Warm it up. Add a littlehoney and gargle.

Throat Soreness

1.       Take the mixture of ½ teaspoon honey and ½ teaspoon lemon juice every1-2 hours.

 

2.       Heat a cup of milk (warm). Add 1-2 pinch of turmeric powder (haldi) in  one cup of hot milk and mix well and drink at night.

 

3.       Apply liquorices (mulathi) paste around the throat like a paint.

 

4.       Chew a plain betel leaf (pan) with liquorices (mulathi) 2-3 times a day.

 

5.       .Take one cup of tea boiled with ginger (adrak) and a few tulsi leaves 2-3 times a day.

 

6.       Gargle with warm salt water at least twice a day.  

 

7.       Pound 2-3 cloves (laung), garlic (lasan) and add to a cupful of honey.Keep for 1-2 days. Take it one teaspoon 2-3 times a day.

 

8.      Add two tablespoon of fenugreek (methi) seeds to 6 cups of water. Heat on low flame/simmer for 15-20 minutes. Cool to bearable temperature. Strain and gargle 2-3 times a day with this.
